Warning When Needed
Father, Father, the bridge is out!
I see the peril ahead.
A car already traveled past;
they may be hurt or dead.
My son, you should have warned them;
you fear they are hurt or dead.
If you had given warning,
Guilt would not be on your head.
If another car comes by,
warn them while you can.
If they avoid the danger,
you've save a woman or man.
Oh, Father, they didn't believe me,
and they drove right on ahead.
I fear the worst has come to them;
they could be hurt or dead.
Now, Son, I see you did your best
to warn of peril ahead.
Though you don't know the outcome,
no guilt is on your head.
